Week 2 Daily Card

Week+3.jpg

For Week 2, we will be focusing on focusing. When you come to your desk for writing practice, I want you to use the last minute of your ten minute warning to clear your space. If you need to have a laundry basket handy to sweep the stuff that has clambered into your sacred space, do it. Whatever it takes, give yourself a notebook sized space to work. When you have your card filled out and your reading done, when you have written your prompt on the top of your page and set your timer, when you have taken your three deep breaths, give yourself the immense privilege of ignoring everything around you for the length of your writing timer.

Unless something is bleeding or on fire, you do not need to attend to it until the timer goes off. You are on do not disturb. Everything else will be fine. You can write for five minutes. I promise. (If there are persons that must be watched, ask someone else to do that).

To be truly free to write without constraint, create a container that will protect you from distraction.
